We invite you to become a member of your professional association and to take advantage of the many programs offered to you through organized dentistry. The future of the profession continues to be full of changes and challenges. There are numerous events and issues affecting dentistry on almost a daily basis. Your thoughts, your ideas and your participation are important – your voice, as a member of organized dentistry, can help shape our profession – and your future.
Organized dentistry is founded upon a tripartite membership structure. In Mississippi, this tripartite system consists of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Dental Association and six component District Dental Societies. Membership in all three organizations represents a powerful commitment on your part to continued growth as a professional, as an individual, as a dentist.
Now more than ever, professional growth and “the growth of the profession” are virtually inseparable. Your membership, and the financial support it creates, is critical to the efforts taking place on your behalf.
Although each member is assessed dues at every level, there are a variety of categories to allow certain exceptions for those who are dental students, new to, or retiring from the practice of dentistry. There are also exceptions for those who may be experiencing temporary financial difficulties. Dues statements are sent to members in the middle of November each year and payment should be submitted to the MDA office by January 1.
