IMPORTANT -Bulletin from the MS Insurance Department

MDA Addresses Dental Insurance Challenges with MS Insurance Department.  A few months ago, the MDA Board appointed a task force to address an increasing number of dental insurance challenges that were being reported to the MDA office by our members. Task force members included: Dr. James Russell Dumas, Dr. Roddy Scarbrough, Dr. Joe Burns (Chair) and Connie Lane. Our task force members met with the Mississippi Insurance Department officials to make them aware of the growing numbers of dental insurance problems our dentists were experiencing and to seek assistance from this state regulatory agency.

An attorney from the MS Insurance Department also attended our March Board meeting to follow up with us further and also make us aware of the attached bulletin the Insurance Department was developing for distribution to dental insurers.

We were notified that the bulletin was officially sent to dental insurers on May 17, 2011 by the MS Insurance Department. Click here to read the bulletin.

The MDA applauds the actions of the MS Insurance Department and their response to our concerns and request for help. We also appreciate the work of our task force members and their due diligence in this project.

One of the items the MDA agreed to assist the MS Insurance Department with includes developing a standardized means of reporting dental insurance challenges and reporting that collected information to the Department. This is just one area in which the MDA is proud to serve our members. We will continue to work diligently to do all we can to address dental insurance challenges on behalf of our dentists.
